Why moissanite

We started with a narrow question: what is the best-performing stone we can put in a piece of fine jewelry without mining anything. The answer was silicon carbide, and once we had it we stopped looking.

Moissanite refracts at 2.65 and disperses at 0.104. It sits at 9.25 on the Mohs scale, which means it survives being worn rather than being stored. Those three numbers are the whole argument.

How stones are selected

We buy loose and we grade before we set. Anything outside D–E–F colour or below VVS1 clarity goes back. Stones for tennis bracelets are matched as a set — colour, cut proportion and table percentage — before any of them are mounted, because a line of stones shows variance that a solitaire hides.

Cutting is where most of the fire is won or lost. We specify cut angles rather than accepting whatever arrives, and we reject stones that read glassy under a single light source.

What is guaranteed

A certificate with every piece, recording stone, carat, colour, clarity, cut and metal. Thirty days to return anything, for any reason — the EU statutory right is fourteen and we did not see a reason to stop there. A lifetime guarantee against loss of brilliance: if a stone ever dulls in a way that cleaning cannot fix, we replace it.

Settings are 925 sterling silver or 14k gold. Silver is rhodium plated, which is why it is hypoallergenic and why it does not tarnish the way untreated silver does.
